Additionally, she functions as a court-appointed guardian or conservator for individuals and the property of wards in the District of Columbia. In this role, she represents wards in probate court and before the Master of the Auditor. As a guardian, she makes personal, financial, health, and end-of-life decisions on behalf of wards of the court. In this role, she pays the ward’s debts, manages the ward’s assets with the assistance of a specialist, and prepares tax returns, reports, and financial accounting documents for court approval.
Outside of probate law, Ms. Antoine-Belton has expertise in elder and disability law practice, disability rights, rights of the homeless, indigent defendants’ rights, and real estate investment and development. For her contributions to people living in underserved communities, she received a DC Bar Pro Bono Award in the late 1980s, among other accomplishments.
